SAVE MONEY ON A GIFT? GIVE PRESENCE NOT PRESENTS

Holiday season is fast approaching and most people are starting to get excited for their gift lists. For many, the task becomes stressful just thinking about their financial situation and the many problems they may be experiencing. Still, the motivation is to find resources to put a few presents under the Christmas tree.

Gift giving is an important gesture we do on various occasions – shower party, birthday, anniversary, wedding but Christmas season tops the list. Gift giving during holiday season is an honored tradition in most homes. From experience, gifts for children in the family especially the cute babies are given the top priority. One would enter a shopping mall purposely to buy something else but the mere sight of adorable items in the children’s section can distract one’s attention. The result? – the shopper leaves the store with the cute item for the baby. Fine. But, stop a minute and ask yourself. “What would I buy for my child when I am under tight financial situation”? Perhaps the answer lies in the gifts that are given. I pretty much like the suggestions of Thomas Haller and Chick Moorman which I would like to quote here:

“Give children what they really want from their parents: PRESENCE NOT PRESENTS. All children spell love T-I-M-E. What we can give them is our attention, our availability, or mindfulness, our closeness, and our time”. This holiday season, be sure to:

1. Be there regardless of what you are doing. Avoid the urge to multitask and strive to stay focused on the moment at hand. When you sit with your children to play or to read a book, give them your undivided attention.

2. Make a “be” choice. How you choose to be affects whatever you choose to do. When you are with your children, choose to be interested in what they are interested in. Choose to be happy that you have the time to focus on their needs and wants. Choose to be excited about the time you have with them.

3. Connect physically. Touch is a powerful way to communicate “I love you”. Get close and touch your children’s heart with a warm embrace and a gentle squeeze of the shoulder. Dispense hugs, smiles, winks and kisses.

4. Connect emotionally. Feelings are always more important than things. Create an environment where it is safe to be emotional. Encourage the expression of feelings. Demonstrate empathy, compassion and understanding.

5. Unplug from the electronic world. Electronics creates barrier between you and your children. Give your time to them. Talk to them. Play with them. Dream with them. This will give a lasting memory for your family.

6. Play the kids’ rules. Play with the children at their level. Make mud pies, jump in rain puddles, roll down a hill or join in the creation of artistic designs. Play regularly, and remember that the reason for play is to play, not win.

Make a commitment this holiday season to give the best gift you can give by being present in your children’s life. Be active and interactive on a daily basis with your children. Be the parent you were called to be. GIVE YOUR PRESENCE. Happy holidays

Since the time my sister started doing online jobs, I'm always fascinated with the way she handles all her works. Like her, I also love to write but with just enough knowledge about the internet, I am having difficulty in that matter. But I also love to research and with the vast development of the internet, I'm slowly getting the hang of it. When something interests me, I automatically search it online..........thanks to all the search engines.

Just this day, I got my eye on BACKLINK topic and a certain site really caught my attention because of its simplicity and yet, I am able to understand the basics of backlinking. Baby blessing for my friend

Woke up this day just to hear the news that my friend is now 2 weeks pregnant..I'm happy for her because her prayers have been answered. She's been married for more than one year already.
That news also gave a wave of emotions on my part because like her, I've been longing for a baby for almost 3 years already. I don't know what to feel. I feel kindda depressed again because up to now, my prayer have not been answered. I know that GOD has better plans for my hubby and me..much better plans than we expect. I know I just have to trust HIM fully. But, I'm only human, and I'm vulnerable to emotions that continue to engulf my entire being. I just pray that GOD would me make me a strong person to overcome this feeling..

Recently, the media was alarmed by the disturbing and annoying "sex scandal video" of actress Katrina Halili with Dr. Hayden Kho. I saw the video myself and it was really embarrasing on the part of Katrina because she didn't know that she was being taped by the said guy.

Shame on Dr. Hayden Kho for doing such acts that degraded the integrity of the women involved. He should be removed from the Roster of Doctors here in the Philippines.

Swine Influenza A( H1N1) Virus, more commonly called Swine Flu Virus has hit several countries all over the world and is rapidly spreading across the globe. People are getting terribly panic- stricken that most of them would rather stay home to avoid getting infected with the deadly virus.

What is really Swine Flu Virus? What are the symptoms associated with it? How do people get infected? Is there a cure?

A. Swine Flu is a respiratory illness of pigs caused by infection with swine influenza A virus (SIV) that can occasionally affect humans.Investigations of these cases suggest that on-going human-to-human swine influenza A (H1N1) virus is occurring.

B. Symptoms of Swine Flu are somewhat similar to those caused by other Influenza virus. These include fever and chills, coughing, sore throat, and fatigue. Sometimes, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea can also occur.The symptoms of swine flu can also vary in severity among affected individuals.

C. One obvious way of transmission is through contact with pigs. Another way of getting swine flu is through contact with people. People who have swine flu may transmit the swine flu from person to person.The human transmission of swine flu is via contact with molecules that contain the virus. This means that human transmitted swine flu is spread through coughing, sneezing, touching, nose and mouth contact. The swine flu in a human is contagious during the first 5 days of the sickness. Some children and people can remain contagious for the first 10 days.

D. In the US, swine flu is treated with amantadine, rimantadine, oseltamivir and zanamivir. However, some strains of swine flu virus have evolved to become resistant to the drugs.WHO recommends treatment with Tamiflu and Relenza.

PANDANON ESCAPADE
Last week, we went to Pandanon Resort for an overnight excursion. The drive is actually 1-1.30 hours from bacolod depending on the car's speed. The resort itself is just small compared to mambukal but it has a beautiful scenery. The weather there is cold esp. at night but it can't stop you from dipping in the pool. What's cool there are the monkeys on the trees. There are so many of them that sometimes youré afraid to go out because they might jump at you. Anyway, here are some pictures to give proof to that:

Part-time jobs for extra bucks

I Recently, we are facing global financial crisis and everyone is really affected by it. It's not the same like before where P500 bucks is enough for a bi-monthly grocery. Our economy is facing a downside and we have to be prepared for it.
With my own little way of preparing, I applied for a part-time job online since I have internet connection at home. My sister suggested a site to apply for and I'm lucky I got in and was hired. Now, I'm doing two part-time jobs enough to assist me financially.

EnjoYing free time

These past few weeks, I've been really busy. I juggled my time between my work as a Medical Technologist and my 2 part time jobs online. It took all my time(including my free time) literally. I just felt so physically and mentally drained that all I do after work is sleep. I had no time for my husband and my 2 precious dogs who I know are longing and craving for my attention and time. I just felt sapped and run-down. I wanted to have time for them but I guess my body doesn't want anymore additions to it's current load.
Favorably, my two clients took a week-long vacation and I'm very happy that I'm given a vacation as well to recharge.:)
I'm longing to have time for myself and my family and I guess this is it:)
Today, I'm going to spend my time for them, I just hope it's not yet too late.

Time flies swiftly since I got married, and before I even realized it, We're in our two years of marriage life. Well, I can say that being married is truly blissful. It's a stage in your life where you experienced being loved unconditionally by that person you want to spend the rest of your life with. But, It's not at all just about loving. It's about trusting and caring for each other when no one would. It's not about you anymore, but the two of you. Decisions and plans are well-made with the two of you sticking around each other. I learned that in my two years of being married.:)

Just this morning, my co- worker informed me that by year 2010 we will not be called R.M.T(registered medical technologist) anymore. It will be changed to C.L.S(clinical laboratory scientist)!!!!!!!!!
We're so happy because that name sounds cool and it's very uplifting to us medtechs in the Philippines. I just hope they will also increase our salary rate.:)

We rarely see each other now, but the communication is always a must for all of us.

Time flies swiftly.......next month my hubby and I are going to celebrate our 2nd year wedding anniversary. We've been through a lot as a young married couple wanting to get the best of our marriage. They say that the first five years of your marriage is actually the adjustment period and I couldn't argue more. Yup, it's true. Ever since we married, we've been through a lot of adjustments. Physically, emotionally, mentally and financially. There were times when I couldn't hold on longer and just want to give up, and I know that he too feels the same way. But somehow we do manage to patch things up, forgive and make up with each other. I think it's because our love for each other is so strong that even if we're somewhat different, we still cling for each other...

I think that's what true love means: learning to deal with each other lovingly.
I know deep in my heart that whatever happens in our journey together, we can surpass it all with God's love binding the two of us.

Housing loan:practical or not?

My husband and I really wanted to have our own house since the day we got married but decided to put it aside for the meantime due to financial status. We never stop dreaming of it though. For us, to have a house we can call our own is a dream come true. Who wouldn't want it?

Just this year, we decided to put our dream into reality since we're not getting any younger. The only problem is we don't have enough money to buy a house. And so we opted for a housing loan.
Housing loan for me is a practical way of having your own house if your finances are tight. It offers you a wide variety of payment scheme. And so, you are able to choose which scheme best suits your ability to pay. It's both practical and pocket-friendly,if you know what i mean:)

So, if your planning to buy a house, you don't need to have a lot of money. Just be practical and get a housing loan.:)

Learning tO fOrGiVE

Have you ever had a painful experience before that you don't think you could learn to forgive again?

When someone you love and trust(esp. your family) betrays you,It's really painful.You don't know if you could trust them again.Forgiveness is something you don't think you can give to them esp. if it caused you trauma.

But time heals all wounds.There will always be a time for healing and reconciliation.Even though how painful that memory is,time has the power to erase all that.Then,that's where forgiveness sets in.As they say "If we have experience God's forgiveness, It's not hard to forgive."

I'm not saying it's easy to forgive,But there is no other way.
Learn to forgive and learn to let go.

It's been two years since I had been married.From that two years, I can say that we have been blessed with a loving relationship except that we still don't have a baby yet.That fact would somehow,always bring me to the verge of tears.I know I'm acting weird because we haven't been married that long and we haven't still subjected ourselves to treatment,but the mere thought of not having a baby is frustrating already.
They say, that being married doesn't evolve all in the thought of having a child.Some say that marriage could survive even without a child.I believe them but, i guess I'm a person who will sacrifice herself just to have her baby.
Don't get me wrong.I'm a very optimistic person but, I don't know, I'm just scared of the thought of not bearing a child my whole life.I'm scared of what my husband would feel.I'm scared of what others would say.
